Our Blended Family Traditions
These are just a few of the traditions that make our blended family holidays so special.
Each holiday season brings our family together with unique traditions that make the most of our diverse backgrounds. Not surprisingly, we all enjoy different times of the year. In this post, we’re sharing some of our favorite blended family traditions that bring everyone closer, create lasting memories, and inspire a strong family bond.
Travel Adventures Together
As everyone already knows, we love to travel! Holidays are always the best and easiest times to travel. We can schedule around our children’s school breaks and our businesses. We, also, plan early to try to take advantage of any deals for the holidays. Our choice is not completely predicated on cheap travel but we certainly take it into consideration.
Places we have been during the holidays so far:
Hawaii
We traveled with 6 kids to Hawaii on Thanksgiving Day! Why… you may ask…
– The price was ridiculously cheaper!
– The airport was NOT crazy busy!
– We wanted to see if we could… and DID WE!
North Carolina
On our Familymoon – right after our wedding ceremony. We drove up to North Carolina for a week long advendture. Sure, there were gripes from some teens – but overall… SUCCESS!
Florida
Yes! Another road trip! These are sometimes hit and miss with the kiddos. But this trip was a win. We stopped and visited FAMU (Trey’s alma matuer). Proceeded to hit Miami and visit Nici grandmother… for the kids to say hey! A few beach stops and couple outings. TOTAL WIN!
“Corny” Matching Pajama Fun
Why pajamas … because it is fun! What better time than the holidays to come together and match for a memory!
Place we have shopped:
Old Navy:
Our first year we came to Old Navy. It was all the commercials we noticed growing up! They always had family jammies. We were new to this and the price was affordable for our large family.
Target:
Then we branched out to Target! They have this ”Black” Collection and we were intrugued. Anytime we can support black creators … we try our best to!
Fenty:
Now when Rihanna dropped a family onesie line Fall 2024… We both were excited. (Yes, we are Riri fans). So we grabbed a matching set for the kids and a unique matching set for us!
Fabletics:
Nici has secured a monthly partnership with Fabletics. On her health journey she receives super cute and fun workout fits. During the holidays they provided the entire family with their holiday onesies! Everyone loved them!
Now, it has evolved over the years. The kids are older and not everyone wants to take photos for social media or the blog… that’s OKAY! We still make sure everyone has a jammie to wear ! Whenever they slip it on… they know we are connected and corny because we all have one!
Baking & Decorating Sweet Treats
Nothing says “holiday fun” like getting messy in the kitchen! Each season, we host a family cookie-decorating session or gingerbread house-building night, complete with hot cocoa and holiday music. It’s become one of our favorite ways to spend time together and get into the festive spirit along with a good holiday movie or show
Hot Cocoa:
What is the holidays without some hot cocoa…? CLUELESS! Of course, we let the kids add their own toppings.
- Marshmallows
- Whipped Cream
- Sprinkles
- Cookies
This is time for creativity and fun! No rules.
Cookie Decorating:
Another simple activity that everyone enjoys. There are times we buy pre made cookies, pre made dough or we make our dough from scratch. FLEXIBILITY is KEY!

Gingerbread Houses:
Some years we do. Some we don’t. We go with the flow. We are not huge gingerbread flavor fans. This is NEVER from scratch, lol! But the competition is always fun!
