Coincidentally—or perhaps fatefully—Denver was the destination of our first-ever plane trip together as a couple and the final trip we took in our fifth year of marriage. Our love for Denver and Colorado as a whole runs deep. The state offers a unique blend of vibrant city life and serene countryside, cold mountain peaks and warm desert landscapes. We’ve experienced everything from the laid-back, hippie vibes to the electrifying sports scene, and we can confidently say that Colorado will always have a special place in our hearts.

Our first trip to Denver was quite the adventure. While we encountered a couple of unpleasant moments, they didn’t overshadow the city’s charm—especially considering the trip took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll dive deeper into our pandemic travel experiences in a later post, but even amidst restrictions, Denver was full of surprises. The food scene was top-tier, the natural landscapes breathtaking, and the activities endless.

Fun fact: One of our main reasons for visiting in 2019 was curiosity about Colorado’s medical cannabis industry—not for ourselves, but to explore potential options for our autistic son.

We arrived in Denver via Delta in 2020 and took full advantage of the city’s impressive (and far superior to Atlanta’s) public transit system. The picturesque ride from the airport built up our excitement, and the city did not disappoint. We walked everywhere, capturing memories and embracing every moment.
